True democracy thrives when citizens are aware of their rights and responsibilities. Yet, in many parts of India, especially in rural and semi-urban regions, people remain unaware of the laws designed to protect and empower them. The Hanshamaa Foundation recognizes that education without awareness is incomplete. Through its RTI Masterclass & Legal Awareness Program, the Foundation is helping citizens understand their rights, demand transparency, and participate actively in governance.
The initiative was envisioned by Advocate Palak S. Prajapati, who observed during her legal studies that most citizens lacked access to basic legal information. Many people didn’t know how to file an RTI (Right to Information) application, how to approach public authorities, or how to seek justice when wronged. This gap inspired her to create a movement that simplifies legal knowledge for the common citizen.
Hanshamaa Foundation conducts workshops, community meetings, and awareness drives where citizens learn about the Right to Information Act, consumer protection laws, women’s rights, and government welfare schemes. The Foundation ensures that complex legal concepts are explained in simple language, using real-life examples. These sessions empower individuals to question misuse of power, understand public processes, and hold authorities accountable — key elements of a transparent democracy.
Beyond awareness, the Foundation also helps participants draft RTI applications, understand legal documentation, and connect with experts for guidance. Through collaboration with legal professionals and civic bodies, the Foundation creates a bridge between law and the people it serves.

The impact of this program is already visible across Gujarat and nearby regions. Villagers who once feared bureaucracy now confidently file RTI applications to demand clarity on public spending, ration distribution, and local development projects. Women’s groups have started using legal knowledge to address domestic violence and workplace inequality. Youth volunteers have begun conducting peer sessions to expand the reach of legal education within their communities.
Hanshamaa Foundation’s legal empowerment model is rooted in the belief that awareness leads to accountability, and accountability leads to justice. By giving citizens the tools to understand and use the law, the Foundation ensures that justice is not limited to courtrooms but becomes a daily practice in civic life.
This program complements the Foundation’s larger mission — Empowering Rural India through Education, Innovation & Legal Awareness. Just as technology bridges the education gap, legal knowledge bridges the justice gap. Together, they create informed, responsible, and empowered citizens who can shape a better society.
The Foundation’s efforts remind us that true empowerment lies not only in skills and education but also in understanding one’s rights. When citizens know how to question, seek answers, and act within the law, democracy becomes stronger. The Hanshamaa Foundation is lighting this path — transforming awareness into action, and individuals into changemakers — one informed citizen at a time.
